Bradford Joint financed Mencap research project into the needs of older family carers has lead to the appointment of a half-time post to support older carers. The remit of the project is to offer support, information and advice to family carers aged 70 and over in the Bradford Metropolitan area. The council has made a video ‘Taking The Next Step’ which explores future housing options and planning for the future. All older carers are issued with an emergency contact card. They are also encouraged to take a proforma letter into their GP to alert them of their needs as carers to be recognised. Contact:
